Dolalghat
Dolalghat, a small town with about 850 inhabitants, is situated approx. 55 km north-east of the Nepalese capital Kathmandu towards Kodari at the boarder to Tibet. The town is divided by the local Indrawathi river and the Sunkoshi river from Tibet.
For a long time, Dolalghat was a stop over for pilgrims and monks on their way to the sacred places in the mountains.
Still today, it is a popular spot to rest and picnic, also because of the “Asla”, a fish that is caught freshly in Dolalghat.
Water athletes, however, love to raft in the Sunkoshi.
The population of Dolalghat belongs to different castes and religions. Hindus, Buddhists and Christians live side by side in peace and tolerance.
